Gulland Forge Broadfork We are extremely pleased to have forged a partnership with Larry Cooper, owner of Gulland Forge, producer of this completely hand-made broadfork, which we feel is the finest on the market. The five forged tines have a 9” penetration depth and have a working width of 17.5”. We tested this tool against the Johnny’s Broadforks, and we found this to be tougher and superior in design, especially owing to the continuously curved tines, which enter the soil easier than the "stepped" 2-bend design on the Johnny's. And on this fork, the tines and handles are stouter. Johnny's claims a 10.5" tine length, but they are measuring from the top of the frame--NOT the distance the tines protrude beneath the frame! Supplied with custom-fitted ash handles and stainless steel bolts to hold them into the frame, the care that goes into making each fork is apparent. Both head and handles are coated with Linseed oil...no toxic coatings on this tool.
Forged Round Point Shovel (England) When I was a kid, Dad called this tool a "Spade", and I've found that many Americans do the same... probably relating to the shape of the head (like the spade in a deck of cards). However, the proper name for this tool is above, also known in Europe as a "fox Point" shovel. Cheap stamped-steel versions of this tool are plentiful at hardware stores, but if you are ready for one that will stay with you, The solid-forged head of this English-made shovel is not only virtually industructable, but it is also angled properly to comfortably scoop material off the ground without bending your back too much.

Long-handled Forged Digging Fork (England) Did you ever wish you could get a really long handle on a great digging fork? Your search is over! My gripe with most of the English-made tools is the way-too-short handles, but this one (and the forged shovel above) are some welcome exceptions. Solid-forged head and square tines typical of English construction.

Ammann Digging Fork (Switzerland) Extremely unique design: the head is offset an inch behind the handle. The manufacturer claims more in-line loading for more ergonomic use. Well whatever…...I know I like the way it digs! Tempered steel tines, long handle with oversized T-Grip at top.
